Center of Excellence

In 2019, Nassau County Department of Health and Human Services, Office for the Aging received a state grant to establish Glen Cove as the county’s Age-Friendly Center of Excellence (COE). The COE is housed at the Glen Cove Senior Center. 

Glen Cove is one of 5 Centers of Excellence in New York State, which are located in the following counties:

Erie   

Tompkins

Nassau

Rockland

Oneida

Goals of the COE: 
  • To provide access to accurate, important information about the City 
  • Provide information via a variety of modalities (online, print, social media, multiple languages) 
  • Serve as a model for Nassau County, who are establishing age-friendly policies at the county level 
  • Mentor other communities looking to establish age-friendly programs
  • Partner with other age-friendly organizations and counties to share ideas and collaborate on projects
