Age-Friendly Glen Cove aims to promote easily accessible and affordable health care, home care, and support services and programs for individuals at all life stages and of all abilities.

Action Plan for Glen Cove:

• Continue partnerships with medical schools and hospitals to hold health screenings,presentations about health topics, and information on available local health and social services and programs are provided to elderly residents
• Develop a resource directory located in senior centers, libraries, and local businesses that provides information regarding home care services, hospital-based programs and services, and other health and social services available to seniors
• Engage local businesses and organizations to encourage healthy lifestyles by creating health and wellness events that aim to promote healthy aging and improving health. These programs and classes can target nutrition and healthy eating, smoking cessation, weight control, physical activity
• In response to the global coronavirus pandemic, communities in the network are applying their existing plans, programs and partnerships to all of the domains (along with commitments to emergency preparedness) in order to protect and assist older residents and other high-risk individuals.At some point, every person of every age gets hurt, becomes ill or simply needs some help. While it’s important that assistance and care be available nearby, it’s essential that residents are able to access and afford the services require
