Why Walk?

Glen Cove has beautiful parks and preserves, a great downtown, and small neighborhoods that make it a great place to walk – just choose your preferred scenery!

Not only is walking fun, but walking is an easy physical activity that provides health benefits to people at all ages. 

According to the CDC, the Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans recommend that adults get at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic physical activity or 75 minutes of vigorous-intensity physical activity, or an equivalent combination each week. This simple, yet effective exercise does not require any expensive memberships – in fact, it is absolutely free! Walking is also a great way to get these minutes of exercise in and decrease the risk of developing chronic diseases, like heart disease, cancer and diabetes.
